According to the report by Mynewsgh today Sunday, residents of Madina Constituency were left in shock after police arrested a well-known clergyman, Rev. Daniel Kwame Boateng, for allegedly stealing church tithes amounting to GHS 345,000.

The shocking incident happened on Sunday evening when police officers stopped his car for a routine check.

According to police reports, Rev. Boateng, who leads Holy Fire Ministries International, had just finished a church service when he drove off in a hurry.

A concerned church member, who had noticed suspicious movements, tipped off the police.

“I have been seeing him acting strangely after every service. Today, I decided to inform the authorities,” said the church member, who wished to remain anonymous.

When the police searched his Toyota Land Cruiser, they found large sums of money stuffed in envelopes and bags under the seats and inside the trunk.

Upon questioning, Rev. Boateng claimed the money was for church projects. However, when the church leadership was contacted, they denied knowing anything about it.

The senior pastors and church elders were furious after learning about the arrest. One elder, Madam Esther Addo, told reporters,

“We always trusted him. We never imagined he could steal from the Lord’s house. This is heartbreaking.”

Another church official revealed that the stolen money was meant for charity programs, including helping the poor and supporting a new church building project.

“We feel betrayed. Our members give their tithes and offerings with faith, but now look at what has happened,” he added.

Speaking to the media, DSP Kofi Mensah, the police officer in charge, confirmed that Rev. Boateng was in custody and investigations were ongoing.

“We found GHS 345,000 hidden in his car. He failed to explain how he got the money, so we are treating this as a case of theft. He will be taken to court soon,” DSP Mensah stated.

News of the arrest quickly spread on social media, with many people expressing disappointment.

One resident, Kwame Asiedu, said, “Pastors should lead by example. This is shameful!” Others called for a full audit of church finances to prevent such incidents in the future.
