Reports are suggesting that flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Kennedy Agyapong was provoked by a certain statement passed by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in Kumasi. Others have claimed a statement passed by an official of the Ministry of Finance is what provoked Kennedy Agyapong but Sources say it could rater be the Vice President.
During the Vice President’s tour of the Ashanti Region at Manhyia Palace, the second gentleman of the land threw a jab at Kennedy Agyapong without mentioning his name.
The Vice President told delegates of Manhyia North that Paa Grant, who coincidentally hails from the Central Region of Ghana did not contest J.B Danquah because he was the one who funded the United Gold Coast Convention UGCC.

Following the jab, Kennedy Agyapong during a campaign tour at the Kintampo East Constituency called out Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for being an economic management failure and not a Strategist.
The Member of Parliament said that it was baffling to hear that Dr. Bawumia after leading Ghana back into the grips of the IMF is being touted as a Strategist.
“If NPP people don’t engage in a clean campaign, they will be in trouble because I will reply when you say something,” He said.
