Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkorah, has expressed his perspective on the limited authority of Vice President Dr. Mahamadu in appointing individuals to manage the country’s affairs.
The Tema West MP suggests that Dr. Bawumia, being a technocrat, would have ensured that only qualified individuals are given opportunities to serve in various positions if he had the power to appoint.
However, due to the limitations on his authority, Dr. Bawumia cannot influence appointments and must wait until he becomes president to implement his vision more effectively.
“In my opinion, Dr. Bawumia lacks the opportunity and authority to instruct people on what to do. This is because he holds the position of vice president and not president. If Bawumia had the power to select and appoint individuals to work under him, some people might have already been removed from their positions. However, I can confidently state that even if you fully support Bawumia, if he becomes president, he would not engage in appointing unqualified individuals. Bawumia is a dedicated technocrat who values knowledge. If you possess the necessary qualifications for a specific role, that’s where he would place you,” Carlos Ahenkorah explained in an interview.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) elected the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as its new leader and flagbearer for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, emerged victorious with 61.43% in the NPP primaries, securing the party’s nomination for the race to the presidency.

Dr. Bawumia’s journey to become the governing party’s flagbearer was not without intense competition and political drama, including a strong challenge from Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, and the fallout from the Super Delegates’ Conference.
