Okatakyie Afrifa, a vociferous Ghanaian media personality was arrested by National Security operatives yesterday shortly after writing his mid-semester exams.
According to Okatakyie’s close friend, known only as Speaker, the arrest occurred shortly after the two parted ways at Christian Village.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with DEK360, Speaker recounted the events leading up to the arrest.
“We had just finished our exams and were heading home. We parted ways at Christian Village, and just a few meters from where we separated, I heard a siren.
At first, I thought it was an ambulance or something similar, so I didn’t pay much attention,” Speaker explained.
However, moments later, Speaker began receiving multiple calls informing him that Okatakyie had been arrested by National Security operatives.
Alarmed by the news, Speaker immediately contacted their lawyer, and together, they rushed to the National Security headquarters at Blue Gate.
Upon arrival, they were made to wait for several hours alongside some high-profile members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), whose presence at the facility remains unclear.
After a tense wait, Okatakyie was released a little after 10 PM, though the reasons for his arrest and subsequent release have not been disclosed by the authorities.
Okatakyie is expected to return to the National Security headquarters on Friday, presumably for further questioning or investigations.
