At least one person is dead after a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania today. The former President was seen ducking for cover as the shots rang out

The chilling moments when a doctor attending a Donald Trump rally came under fire by an unidentified shooter, have been detailed. CBS News was provided a graphic account by Jake Rosen, who rushed to provide emergency aid amidst the panic, with images showing him in blood-stained attire.

In the aftermath of the event which saw ex-President Trump taking cover and one person losing their life, Mr Rosen recalled, “I heard the shots. I thought it was firecrackers to begin with. Somebody over there was screaming, ‘he’s been shot, he’s been shot.’ So, I made my way over. I said I’m an emergency department physician. Let me help you.'”.

Rosen recounted the horrifying scene, saying, “There’s lots of blood and he had brain matter,” before commending the helpful individuals around as he performed life-saving CPR chest compressions.

Journalist Merly Kornfield shed light on further details from Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger indicating “Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger tells me Trump was grazed by gunfire but is safe. An audience member was killed and the shooter is dead. Another person is in serious condition, the prosecutor said.”

In the wake of the incident, Trump’s campaign was quick to confirm his safety whilst expressing gratitude towards law enforcement and first responders for their immediate intervention during the shocking assault, stating, “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act.”, reports the Mirror US.

The statement also mentioned, “he is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”

President Joe Biden made a firm call to the nation, stating that “everybody must condemn” such acts of violence. “There’s no place in America for this type of violence,” he emphasised. “It’s sick. It’s sick.”

At his last rally before the start of the Republican National Convention on Monday, the former president and probable Republican candidate was presenting a chart of border crossing statistics when sudden loud noises caused a stir among attendees.

Trump appeared to clutch his neck with his right hand, with what looked like blood on his face.

Signalling Pennsylvania’s critical role for both parties, Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, and First Lady Jill Biden were all on the campaign trail in the state on Saturday.

As Biden aims to inject new life into his re-election bid, he conducted a virtual meeting with members of the two largest Democratic caucuses on Capitol Hill, amidst a growing chorus of Democrats suggesting he should not seek another term.
