Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Kudus and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku converted from the spot for the Black Stars as Chile missed three of their four kicks with goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen saving two kicks in the shoot-out as Ghana carried the day.
The game was between two sides that had lost their opening games in this tournament with Ghana losing 4-1 to the hosts, Japan whilst Tunisia beat Chile 2-0 to advance to the final.
Japan will play the Tunisians later on Tuesday in the grand finale of this tournament which has been arranged to serve as preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November and December.
Three nations, Ghana, Tunisia and the hosts, Japan, will be competing at the Mundial later this year.
Ghana coach Otto Addo, used the Kirin Cup competition to test the resolve of his players for the World Cup and, he should have a fair idea of those he hopes to send to the tournament in Asia.
The Black Stars have been lined up in a pool that includes Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay later this year in Qatar.
This will be Ghana’s fourth appearance at the Mundial after debuting in Germany in 2006 and also playing at the 2010 and 2014 editions in South Africa and Brazil respectively.
