According to a report by News Ghana, Bishop John Yaw Adu, founder and leader of the New Jerusalem Chapel, has praised Ghana’s Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative for reducing youth involvement in armed robbery.
Speaking on Kingdom FM, Bishop Adu attributed his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the transformative impact of the Free SHS policy.
“I firmly support this government because of the Free Senior High School initiative. When was the last time you heard about armed robbery? Many of the street children have returned to school, thanks to FSHS. The Free SHS program has been of tremendous benefit to Ghana,” he remarked.
The program has reportedly opened up numerous opportunities for young people, redirecting many from criminal activities.
Bishop Adu highlighted remarkable achievements by students benefiting from the program.
For instance, students at Obuasi Senior Technical School developed a dialysis machine for kidney patients, while their counterparts at Afiakobi Senior High School in the Ashanti Region built an aircraft and an outboard motor.
The bishop concluded by asserting that the Free SHS program has profoundly improved Ghana’s education system, elevating it among the best in Africa.
