Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Foreign Affairs Minister and Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, has expressed concerns over an alleged leak of confidential information within the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He suspects that someone from within the party has been providing sensitive details to Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader and Ranking Member of the Appointments Committee.
According to a post on the Facebook page of GHbase.com, Ablakwa stated that he finds it difficult to comprehend how Afenyo-Markin became aware of private discussions that took place among NDC members. He was particularly alarmed during the vetting of Dr. Omane Boamah, the Defence Minister, when Afenyo-Markin posed certain questions that suggested prior knowledge of internal party deliberations.
Ablakwa recalled that Afenyo-Markin directly questioned him about statements he allegedly made during an NDC caucus meeting. He found it troubling that the Minority Leader seemed to have access to such confidential information, raising concerns about an internal leak.
When asked how Afenyo-Markin might have obtained such details, Ablakwa acknowledged that Members of Parliament often have friendships across party lines. However, he emphasized that such breaches of confidentiality should not be taken lightly.
He further expressed his concern over the level of intelligence Afenyo-Markin had regarding their supposedly private discussions. He believes this clearly indicates that someone within the NDC ranks has been leaking information to the opposition, which he sees as a serious issue that requires urgent attention.
