Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari had expressed joy over the political resilience of John Dramani Mahama, recalling his landslide victory in the elections with 57.7% of the votes. According to Joyce Bawa Mogtari, John Dramani Mahama faced struggles after his presidency, highlighting the refusal of president Akufo Addo and vice president Mahamadu Bawumia to allow John Dramani Mahama to remain in his Cantonments residence or to provide the requisite benefits and accommodations due a former president.

Joyce Bawa Mogtari emphasised the challenges of the past eight years, mentioning that JDM had had to operate from a rented office and live in his private residence, rather than state provided accommodations. She expressed relief and gratitude for what she described as divine favour for John Dramani Mahama.

Adding to the discourse, NDC activist, Yayra Koku accused vice president Mahamadu Bawumia of denying Mahama his rightful entitlements as a former president. He reminded political leaders of the transient nature of power, urging them to prioritise public service during their tenure.
