Bagbin in Trouble as Okatakyie Is Set to Release Leaked Tape of GH¢12 Million Meant For Volta Region

Renowned Ghanaian journalist, Okatakyie Afrifa, has sparked public outrage after making explosive allegations against the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin. Afrifa claims to possess a leaked tape implicating the Speaker in the mismanagement of GH¢12 million meant for residents of the Volta Region affected by the recent Dam spillage.

Speaking on Angel TV, Afrifa urged the people of the Volta Region to demand accountability for the funds allegedly earmarked to support them during the devastating crisis. “I want to reveal a deep secret to my brethren in the Volta Region,” Afrifa stated. “The NDC leadership should have you at heart since you are the people who always vote for them, but unfortunately, they don’t. I am about to release a leaked audio of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, keeping some of the money meant for the people of the Volta Region affected by the recent dam spillage.”

Afrifa further alleged, “The Speaker kept GH¢12 million of the money meant for the victims of this dam spillage. I am saying this because I have concrete evidence, and I will release it soon. So I am asking you people in the Volta Region to go and ask Speaker Bagbin why he is still keeping your GH¢12 million. Be bold; go and ask him since it’s your money.”

The Dam spillage displaced thousands in the Volta Region, leaving many residents homeless and in desperate need of relief. The government and various stakeholders had promised significant financial and logistical support to mitigate the impact. However, Afrifa’s allegations suggest potential misappropriation of these funds, sparking widespread concern.

While Afrifa has not yet released the purported leaked audio, his claims have already ignited heated debate on social media and in political circles. Some Ghanaians have called for immediate investigations into the matter to ascertain the truth and ensure accountability.

Meanwhile, Speaker Bagbin is yet to respond to the allegations. The NDC, the party to which Bagbin belongs, has also remained silent, raising questions about the veracity of the claims and the potential implications for the party’s reputation in the Volta Region, a traditional stronghold.

As Ghanaians await the release of the alleged tape, the unfolding controversy highlights the urgent need for transparency and accountability in managing disaster relief funds.
