Serie A champions Napoli have formally approached Italian Antonio Conte about the possibility taking over a head coach. Napoli approached Conte after club owner Aurelio De Laurentis and the club’s passed a vote of no confidence in head coach Rudi Garcia.
It is understood De Lauren’s personally take charge of the talks to understand Conte’s plan and suitability to the role of Napoli’s head coach.
De Laurentis is said to be open minded about other candidates although Conte remains the favorite for the role as of this moment.
Rudi Garcia will be relieved of his duties once Napoli conclude talks with a replacement.
Napoli have struggled for consistency this season, in both Serie A and UEFA Champions League under Rudi Garcia.
Rudi Garcia who was appointed in July following the exit of Luciano Spalleti, has failed to maintain the high standards set by his predecessor. Sunday night’s defeat to Fiorentina was Napoli’s second of the season. The Partenopei have won four matches, drawn the other two and are currently fifth in the league table.
In the Champions League, an opening day victory over Sporting Braga was followed by a painful loss to Real Madrid last week.
