At any moment a ruling from the Constitutional Court of Cape Verde is expected on the basis of an appeal lodged by Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab’s lawyers, who will be highlighting the many unconstitutional irregularities in the processing of the US extradition case against him.
Alex Saab who was arrested on June 12, 2020, by the Cape Verde government at the request of the United States of America, during a refueling stop at the airport on the island of Sal, in Africa, while on a diplomatic mission on behalf of Venezuela. Since his arrest, the authorities have, according to Saab’s legal team, had too many missteps to ignore the clear abuse of power. This can be demonstrated at almost every phase of the procedure, which will surprise any impartial observer. Amazingly the arrest was carried out without an arrest warrant and without an Interpol red notice, as otherwise claimed by Cape Verde authorities. However, Alex Saab is a diplomat.
