Alan Kyerematen has voiced his concerns about the alarming rise of “negative propaganda” within Ghana’s political landscape, using recent developments in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a glaring example. During a candid interview on Joy News, Kyerematen shed light on how political propaganda is being manipulated to create false narratives, especially regarding vice-presidential candidacies.
“There is a lot of negative propaganda in this country about vice-presidential candidature. Look at what happened in the NPP,” Alan remarked, pointing to internal struggles within the party he once called home as evidence of the issue. He expressed his disappointment at how propaganda is often used to divide political movements, especially when it comes to crucial decisions like selecting running mates.
Kyerematen contrasted this situation with his new political movement, the Alliance for Revolution Change (ARF), emphasizing that such conflicts would not take root within their ranks. He assured that there is a strong understanding and unity among the leaders of the ARF, which would prevent the kind of internal strife seen in other political parties.
Addressing recent rumors involving his long-time ally, Dr. Abu Sakara, Alan firmly dismissed the claims suggesting that Dr. Sakara was upset over not being chosen as his running mate. “Abu Sakara has been a long-time friend for many years… We understand ourselves. We know what we are doing,” he stated confidently. He went on to clarify that his decision to appoint a younger candidate as his vice-presidential pick was made with the ARF’s future in mind, aligning with their mission to empower the next generation of leaders.
Kyerematen further highlighted that Dr. Sakara and other senior leaders of the ARF would play pivotal roles not just in the ongoing campaign but in shaping the future direction of the movement, should they be voted into power. He refuted reports suggesting that Dr. Sakara had expressed any frustration over the decision, calling the rumors “completely untrue” and inconsistent with Dr. Sakara’s character.
This clarification comes at a time when speculation is rampant about Kyerematen’s choice of running mate. Despite the chatter, Kyerematen stands firm that his decision was made in the best interest of the ARF’s broader mission, which focuses on creating meaningful leadership opportunities for younger generations.
