Kumawood actress Matilda Asare has accused presidential hopeful Alan Kyerematen of working against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the 2024 general elections.

In a video shared on social media, Matilda Asare alleged that Alan Kyerematen, also known as “Alan Cash,” is being funded by individuals from rival political parties to disrupt the NPP’s stronghold in Kumasi.

According to her, the purported plan seeks to reduce Bawumia’s support base in the Ashanti Region, a key voting bloc for the NPP.

“You want to bring division among the people in the Ashanti Region, but you will fail because Ghanaians don’t discriminate,” she said in the video.

Matilda further alleged that Alan is subtly encouraging voters to reject Bawumia due to his Northern heritage, describing the tactic as divisive and unpatriotic. She claimed to possess confidential information about Alan’s alleged plot and vowed to expose him if necessary.

Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions among Ghanaians and within the NPP. While some party supporters agree with Matilda’s concerns, others have urged for calm and unity to prevent internal divisions that could harm the party’s electoral prospects.

Alan Kyerematen, who recently resigned from the NPP to run as an independent candidate, has yet to respond to these allegations. Political analysts believe the accusations highlight the growing tensions within the party and the stakes involved in the 2024 elections.

Calls for reconciliation within the NPP have intensified, with party faithful stressing the importance of solidarity to ensure a strong showing at the polls. Whether or not Matilda Asare’s claims hold any merit, the controversy has added another layer of complexity to the already heated political atmosphere.
