A sub-chief from Kokoben, near Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region, was tragically shot and killed by unknown assailants around 9:00 PM outside his home.

The victim, identified as Nana Okufrobour, also known as Nana Abudu, was ambushed and fatally shot. When police arrived, they found his lifeless body in a pool of blood, and medics confirmed his death at the scene. Some of his personal items were found nearby.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder may be related to ongoing disputes among sub-chiefs in the area, though the police have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the attack. The body has been sent to the morgue for further examination.

Yahaya Saeed, the assemblyman for the area, confirmed the incident to Asaase News. He expressed the community’s shock and sadness, noting that rumors suggest the killing may be linked to land disputes, but the police are continuing their investigation to uncover the facts.

“This is a heartbreaking and shocking event for us all. Nana Okufrobour was a respected community leader, and his sudden death is a huge loss. The police have visited the scene and are conducting further investigations,” Saeed said.

The police have reassured the public that they are diligently working to identify and apprehend those responsible. Residents are encouraged to remain calm and assist the authorities with their investigation.
