“Some Decisions Will Be Unpleasant, but They’re in Ghana’s Best Interest’ – President-Elect Mahama

President-elect John Dramani Mahama has revealed his vision for the four-year term he is set to begin in January 2025.

According to Modern Ghana on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, In a recent discussion following a courtesy call from several minority political parties, Mahama shared his aspirations to leave a lasting legacy focused on “resetting” Ghana and promoting good governance.

Mahama expressed his commitment to the mandate given to him by the people, emphasizing that it is something he takes “very seriously.”

He added, “For me it’s about legacy. Four years; establish a legacy of resetting our nation, good governance, create the platform for the next generation to take it away.”

One of Mahama’s key objectives is to lay the foundation for future generations to thrive.

He aims to create systems and structures that will help future leaders continue the progress he hopes to initiate.

The President-elect also acknowledged that some decisions his government will make may not be popular but are necessary for the long-term benefit of the country.

“We might take decisions that are unpleasant because to reform the country from where it is,

You need some clear measures and some of those measures might be severe and unpleasant but people should know that it’s been taken in the best interest of Ghana,” Mahama stated.

As Mahama prepares for his swearing-in ceremony on January 7, 2025, his focus remains on the larger goal of resetting the country for greater prosperity, despite the tough choices that may lie ahead.
