According to the video posted by ChannelOne TV on Wednesday, a 29-year-old clergyman was shot and killed by an unknown gunman during an overnight prayer session in Kumasi.

The young pastor, whose congregation had gathered for a night of worship and prayers, was reportedly targeted in the middle of the service, sending panic and fear throughout the church.

The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. at a small church in Kumasi, where the pastor and his congregants were deep in prayer. According to witnesses, the gunman entered the church quietly, approached the pulpit where the pastor stood, and opened fire.

The pastor collapsed immediately, and the congregation scattered in terror, some seeking shelter within the building while others ran outside to seek help.

One church member, visibly shaken, described the tragic moment:

“We were all praying, our eyes closed, when suddenly we heard a loud bang. I opened my eyes and saw the pastor on the floor, bleeding. People were screaming and running. It was like a nightmare.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the gunman appeared calm and focused, showing no signs of fear or hesitation. After firing the fatal shot, he quickly exited the church and disappeared into the night. Local authorities were called to the scene, but by the time they arrived, the gunman was long gone.

Pastor Emmanuel Adu, a neighboring clergyman who arrived shortly after the incident, expressed his shock and disbelief:

“He was so young and full of life. Just last week, he was talking about the importance of faith and staying strong in the face of trials. We never thought such evil would visit us in the house of God.”

The police have since launched a manhunt for the unknown gunman, urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to his arrest.

Regional police spokesperson, Superintendent Kwame Mensah, assured the community that the authorities are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrator to justice.

“This was a heinous act, and we will not rest until the suspect is found. No one should feel unsafe in a place of worship,” Mensah stated.

“It’s heartbreaking,” said another churchgoer. “We come to church to find peace and strength. Now we’re afraid. But we will keep praying and trusting God to protect us.”
